Another Weekend Report

Here again is another weekend report. Friday after I got off work I picked up the girls and we went to Wal-Mart to get a comforter set for Lol's new bed and a side rail for the bed. After that we were on our way to Mr. Sandman's on the Atlanta Highway in Montgomery to get her a $99.00 twin mattress set when we passed by a place called Goodnight Mattress right beside American Oak. I thought to myself, what the heck, so I turned around and pulled up in front of their store and called to see how much their cheapest twin mattress set was. Well it just so happened that they also had a $99.00 set. I was ecstatic. This was going to save me about 40 minutes of driving. So I went in and bought the set. And I must guiltly say, it is a much better set than the one we got for Josie a couple years ago at Mr. Sandman's. So anyone needing a new mattress, you should check them out. My next obstacle, how was I going to get it home? There is only one lady that worked at Goodnight Mattress so she went next door and asked the gentlemen at American Oak if they would tie the mattresses to the top of the van, and they so gracoiusly did. I was just so excited that I saw that place and saved myself on time, gas money, and in sales tax. I drove incredibly slow the whole way home and kept checking as best as I could to make sure the mattress and box spring were staying put. I was a nervous wreck the whole way home, however we made it home safe and sound and with the
mattress and box spring still on top of the van. We got home and I managed to get the box spring and mattress down and in the house and set up the bed. Jolie was so excited. She kept saying "my bed," and wouldn't even let Josie sit on it. I must say though that they have done so much better sleeping in the same room but without being able to touch each other. It could not have worked out more perfectly. That evening we rented the Princess and the Frog and watched that before bed. Joe wasn't feeling good and passed out in the chair around 7:00 p.m. He said he woke up at some point in the dark wondering where everyone had gone. Bless his heart.

Saturday the girls were up at 6:30 a.m. all excited about going to Aunt Beccas and Aunt Angie's. We got everything ready and was out the door by 8:00 a.m. We first stopped off at Redbox and dropped off the movies then we headed to pick up breakfast. It was almost 8:45 before we finally got on the Interstate. Then we had to stop in Greenville to pickup Joe's fishing gear. It worked out perfectly though because the girls and I could go to the bathroom and we ended up changing around the girls' seats because there was way too much "She's touching me," and "She has my toy" going on. Before we had them on the same row so that the baby would have its own row, but for now each girl has her own row. Maybe closer to the baby getting here we can put them back on the same row. By that time Lol will be closer to 3 and maybe not as aggrevating to Josie???? Anyways, we got to Becca's around 11:00 a.m. We had a great day. We just ate and played all day. Joe and Josie did do a little fishing:

Josie had so much fun that she did not want to leave. She kept trying to talk Aunt Becca into letting her stay the night. She cried and cried when we left. We did tell her that sometime soon we would arrange for her to go down for the weekend. She is so excited and has been talking about it every day since.

Sunday we got up and I did not feel well at all. I told Joe I just didn't think I could go to church. So I helped him get the girls ready, and he and the girls went to church without me. Joe even helped teach my Sunday School class. He is so wonderful, and I do not know what I would do without him. He had a session meeting after church so I went and picked up the girls a little after 12:00 and brought them home, fed them, and they laid down for naps. Josie slept for 2.5 hours and Jolie slept for 3. Joe got home around 4:00 p.m. and started cutting grass. I still was not feeling up to par so he took the girls outside with him and they even ran an errand. Again, he was so great yesterday. Not sure what was wrong with me though. I have not thrown up as much this pregnancy, but I still haven't felt good either. I'm not sure what is wrong. Oh well, I'm entering the second trimester so hopefully I will start feeling better soon.

Here are some more pictures from the church easter egg hunt. A guy from church took 247 pictures and passed out CDs, so here are some of the girls:

Thank You God for Family

We are so blessed with such a wonderful family. I just do not know what I would do without some of them sometimes. Here is our latest experience with our awesome family. Sheila had asked if we could get together sometime this week because we had not seen each other since Mrs. Emily's birthday on March 25th. Shortly after her asking we found out that the father/grandfather of some close friends from church has passed away. I asked Sheila if they could watch the girls long enough for us to go to the visitation and then we would come straight to her house to eat and visit. Her being the wonderful aunt that she is, of course said yes. Not only, did she do that she arrived at my house at 5:30 p.m. to pick up the girls so that we wouldn't have to drive to Millbrook to turn right back around and drive back to Wetumpka. How awesome is that. Shortly after Sheila and the girls left Joe and I headed to the visitation and then headed to Quint & Sheilas. When we got there not only had my girls been fed, but they were getting baths. It just warms my heart to know that God has blessed us with such a loving and involved family for us to bring our children up with. She even finished their baths while Joe and I ate the delicious dinner she had cooked for all of us. After eating it was time for Ansleigh to have her bottle. Jolie helped me feed her. It is so cute because Caden and Josie were busy busy playing but Lol wanted to be right there with Ansleigh. She wanted to feed her and hold her which we let her do with a little help from Mommy.

After feeding Ansleigh it was time for her bath. Jolie informed us she wanted to help and even offered to get in the bathtub with her. We told her she could stand outside the tub and help. Josie even got into the action (but notice she still had the gloves on that she and Caden had been playing with):

Ansleigh all clean with Josie tickling her:

They are both going to be such great helpers when Baby J gets here. After helping give Ansleigh a bath the kids decided they needed a treat. Look at these three adorable gifts from God enjoying their fruit snacks:

Before we know it Ansleigh and Baby J will be right up there with them getting into just as much trouble. Here are some pictures of them playing before we got there:

All I can say, is thank you God for my family and especially these beautiful Burdick children :)

God Is Good All the Time!

We had a holiday packed weekend. Thursday night we had our Maundy Thursday service at church. Joe picked up the girls and met me at work so we could eat before the service. As soon as I got off work we all loaded up in the van and headed to KFC for a quick dinner before church. After the service some friends wanted us to go out to eat with them but we had already eaten and I was very tired so we headed home. As we are almost approaching our house Josie informs us that she left her papers that she was drawing on at my work. MY WORK! JOE'S CAR! Yes, so we had to drive all the back to town to get Joe's car. I guess I should be thankful it is only a 15 minute drive. Oh well for being tired, right.

Friday we had our Good Friday service. I cried throughout the entire service. After church we went to dinner with our friends and we had a spilling evening at Ruby Tuesdays. Spilling, is that a new term, no, that is what the four children did through the entire meal. The first child broke his strofoam cup with the straw and spilled his apple juice all over the table. Probably five minutes after cleaning that up, Josie knocked over her lidded cup which spilled on her, her chair, and the table. I had to change her clothes she got so wet. Then probably about fifteen minutes later Josie was sitting in Joe's lap when she swung her arms and knocked over Joe's tea which spilled all over the table. If Tim had not immediately jumped up he would have also been covered in tea. Aww, the joys of children :)

Saturday morning Joe headed off to work and the girls and I started our day around 7:00 a.m. I was a nice mommy and got up and made eggs and toast. The morning seemed to go downhill from there. The girls tore up a picture book my mom had made for me, tore up another book, spilled finger nail polish on the floor as I was painting our toenails to match our Easter dresses, and then Lol decided that the new bed she got needed a good beating. Not sure where she found the tool she decided to use but the bed got a good couple whacks before I was able to get it away from her. In the midst of everything the girls did talk to both MeMaw and Grammy that morning and Josie invited both of them to come to our church Easter Egg Hunt with us, which I thought was so sweet of her. But all of this excitement made us thirty minutes late for egg hunt. We got there and the girls had a great time and we all calmed down a little bit. Chris, Crystal, Nana, Elias & Annaleigh were there as well as Amy, Caitlin, Sara, Clarabeth, Aunt Elisa, and Other Mama. Thank goodness for Other Mama, it is so nice to have help when Joe is not around.

Collins Family anxiously waiting for the Hunt to begin:

After the egg hunt we headed home for naps. MeMaw and Paw-paw had offered to take the girls to the Easter egg hunt at their church which was from 2-4 and so I told the girls they had to take naps in order to be able to go. Josie finally fell alseep and slept for maybe 45 minutes but Jolie was not buying it and I always give up hope when Joe comes home in the middle of me trying to get them to lay down. As soon as Josie got up I called MeMaw and shortly thereafter they came and got the girls and took them to their church. Joe and I then got busy. We rearranged Josie's room and set up Lol's new bed in there. (We still have to get the mattress though.) Then we started cleaning and I started cooking for our new family tradition of Easter Eve dinner. I cooked a ham, greenbean casserole, broccoli casserole, carrots, mashed potatoes, Stove Top cornbread stuffing, deviled eggs, cranberry sauce, rolls, and banana pudding. As I was finishing up cooking MeMaw and Paw-Paw brought back the girls and our dinner guests arrived, Mary Kelley, Tim, Jesse & Catie. We ate until we were all stuffed and then we played outside. The girls just love the trampoline and play house and it is so nice to have both of these for when friends come over. After playing outside we headed inside to dye Easter eggs. Josie had been looking forward to doing that all weekend.

Sunday morning the girls woke up to see that the Easter Bunny had come. He brought Josie a Dora fishing pole and Jolie a princess fishing pole, and he also brought them jump ropes, books, sticker books, bubble bath, and lots of candy. After eating a sufficient amount of candy I made blueberry muffins and we ate breakfast before getting ready for church. The girls were absolutely beautiful in their dresses. The service was beautiful as was the music and before the service started the three of us put flowers in the cross.

After church we headed to Other Mama's house for lunch where we had another spilling time. Yes, it must have been a theme this weekend. Joe didn't get there from work until after we had already eaten. So once he got there he fixed his plate and then got up to fix his drink. When he sat down he knocked over his drink spilling it all over the table. After he finished eating, I started cleaning up the food and putting it away. Well I was trying to put the lid on a big veggie tray and it slipped out of my hands and veggies went everywhere. After cleaning up another mess, we took the girls outside to blow bubbles and for a ride on the golf cart while Other Mama hid Easter eggs in the yard. While riding on the golf cart we thought we would stop and say hi to Aunt Elisa and Uncle Tim. While we were sitting there talking Jolie kept pointing to Maw's old room. I told her she was not in there any more but that I would take her to see the room. So Josie, Lol and I walked over to the room. We walked in and Josie asked, "Where is she?". I said she has gone to heaven to be with Jesus. Then Josie asked "Well who bought her a new bed?" It was so funny. Maw had a hospital bed and so when she passed Aunt Elisa took that out and redid the room into a guest room. So in Josie's mind I guess Aunt Elisa had redone the room for Maw. Lol kept wanting to look in room, and I thought it was so sweet. After visiting we headed back to Other Mama's to find Easter eggs. A little after that we loaded up and headed to Nanny and Pap-paw's for Easter dinner. Dinner was great and after dinner Kevin and Amy hid eggs for the kids to find. It was so funny to watch because Lol still has to be led and shown where the eggs are where Josie goes into super hunting mode. We spent the rest of the time at Nanny's just watching the girls and Tanner playing and talking. That night it did not take long for the girls to pass out.

All in all it was a pretty good weekend. It definitely had its ups and downs, but hey that is life. I'm just so grateful to have a God who thinks I'm important enough to die for and who thinks I'm deserving enough to have the wonderful husband that I have in Joe, the amazing children he has blessed me with, as well as our church, family and friends. God is Good All the Time!
